The Bee Park sits in the foothills above Përmet, a short drive from the town center within the Vjosa Wild River National Park region. Our team picks you up from our base camp in Përmet and provides round-trip transport directly to the family-run apiary — no personal vehicle is needed. The route winds through small villages and orchards typical of the Vjosa Valley. Many visitors combine the Bee Park with a stop at the Gliko Tasting workshop, since both experiences showcase the traditional foods crafted by families in the Përmet area, and the two locations are only minutes apart by road.
The Bee Park welcomes visitors from April through October, when the bees are most active and the hives are full of fresh wildflower honey. Late spring (May-June) is especially rewarding, as the meadows around Përmet bloom with wildflowers that give the honey its distinctive flavor, and the hillside near Leusa Church is at its greenest. Summer brings the richest honey harvest and the warmest weather for a relaxed outdoor visit, while September and October offer a quieter atmosphere as the bees prepare for winter. The Bee Park typically pauses during the colder months (November-March), when the bees are dormant and there is little to observe.
Beyond sunscreen and a good appetite for the honey tasting, we recommend wearing comfortable closed-toe shoes and lightweight clothing, since you'll be walking among the hives in a full protective suit (provided) during warmer months. A hat and sunglasses are useful, as much of the visit takes place outdoors in open meadows near the apiary. If you'd like to purchase honey or other local products to take home, bring a small amount of cash, as the family-run apiary may not have card payment available. A camera is also worthwhile for photographing the hives, the surrounding orchards, and the views toward the Vjosa Valley.
After your visit to the Bee Park, the Gliko Tasting workshop is just a short drive away, where local families prepare traditional Albanian fruit preserves using the same orchards that feed the bees. The historic Leusa Church, a Byzantine-era church with panoramic views over the Vjosa Valley, sits on a hillside above Përmet and makes a peaceful stop on the way back to town. For a more active addition to your day, the Sopoti Waterfall is a hidden cascade tucked into the mountains above Përmet. All three sites combine naturally with the Bee Park for a relaxed cultural and nature-focused day in the Përmet area.
